  • New Painting

Here's a new painting I did. It took me several and I mean several days, but I like it. The painting was so large I had to scan it by pieces and make a composite, which I didn't feel like putting a lot of effort in.

  • <insert>Interesting Title</insert>

I did wish I had an interesting title, but that's aside the point.

In a little more than one week there will be a new episode of Supernatural out. I am incredible excited. To those of you who know me, you know I'm addicted to Supernatural. Even though I'm excited about the eminent arrival of the new episode it was a little tough (read frustrating) and I had to find another way to unwind once a week. I have found a successful alternative yet, and it been around a month. I'm a little concerned about how I will react when the season finishes. I hope I can find a viable cooping mechanism or head a little bit closer to normal.

I recently finished a Miyazaki marathon the other day.
    Valley of the Wind
    My Neighbor Totoro
    Howl's Moving Castle
    Spirited Away
    Princess Mononoke
    Kiki's Deliver Service

I grew up watching Kiki's Delivery Service (that and Akira, Dirty Pair, and bad old VHS subs of Ranma). I started when I was in elementary school and had no idea what anime was. I wanted to grow up and be Kiki. I wanted to be Kiki so badly.

I tried to watch Ponyo by the Cliff but I was unable to locate it. I heard that the English version is going to have Matt Damon in it, which is great because he's one of my preferred actors. He was in the Bourne movies.

I love the Bourne Identity books, and I love the movies. I have to say that on the whole I say the movies are better. The books are excellent, but aren't as enjoyable for me as the books.

The books are hard for me to completely inmerse myself in because of the generation gap and the role of the female character. (Also all of the characters do some stupid stuff). The female protagonist is a doctor, as in having a docotorate not a MD, yet is much more pliable to the masculine identities around her. I dislike the dual standard of her being a powerful woman, but then being helpless and portrayed unrealistic (she could be acting in realistic behavior for the time frame the book takes place). But I don't really want to do a literary analysis at 1:30 in the morning.

I perfer the books because I like the high tech setting, Matt Damon is young and cute, the female protagonist my appear to be "lesser" than her book counterpart; however, that appearance is only superficial. The female protagonist is her own person, and is not dependent on the males around her for guidance and approval.

Now, before everybody shouts "feminism!" at me, I'm not. I'm for equality of all, but I hate, absolutely hate hypocrisy (A Town Called Hypocrisy is pretty good though, it's a song), and the Bourne novels smell bit like hypocrisy of the female protagonist. In my novels/movies/games/whatever I can handle chicks being the fairer weaker sex and needing the protection and wisdom of guys; I can handle chick being totally awesome kick your ass before you know it. I just really dislike hypocrisy, and such I will enjoy the movies more.

Gee, I didn't mean for that to become a big long review.

  • Valentines Day

    Hurray! I love Valentines Day!

Kale surprised me at work. He brought me a bouquet of tulips and took me to lunch at a cafe. Well, we tried to go to a cafe, but all of the cafes close at like 2 or 3, so we shared what I had packed for lunch, tofu and a slice of cheesecake. Later, after I got off work, we went to the Howard House. The Chesapeake fries were delicious, the other stuff was good too. Afterwards we watched Eagle Eye, which was absolutely fantastic. It was nice to sit together and enjoy a movie. I just have good feelings all over. Very happy! :D
